WO I SWF (GI) Abu bakar bin Amat was born on 4 October 1971 at Melaka General Hospital. He holds a Malaysian Certificate of Education (MCE) who is a former student of Tun Tuah Bachang High School, Melaka . Entered the Royal Malaysian Navy service on Julai 1, 1993 at Woodlands Recrutement Training Center, Singapore and was applied into the Surface Warfare branch (SWF).
During his 26 year service, he was placed in several units within the RMN such as KD MAHAWANGSA, Communication Center, KD LAKSAMANA MUHAMMAD AMIN, Regulating, KD LEKIR, KD RAJAWALI, KD PELANDOK training center, Royal Military College (RMC), KD SUTAN IDRIS, Lumut Naval Base and Western Fleet.
He attended courses such as 76/62mm Oto Melara, 40/70 Oto Breda at LA SPEZIA, Italy and appointed as Gunnery Yeoman on board KD LAKSAMANA MUHAMMAD AMIN as the first crew. He was awarded medal such as Pingat Pangkuan Negara (PPN) and Pingat Bentara Angkatan Tentera (BAT) from the King throughout the service.
On April 27, 2015, he has been appointed as a Command Warrant Officer (CWO) for the first time at Lumut Naval base. The appointment of CWO is a history in the RMN which has appointed 15 CWO’s for each Headquarters at that time and he is one of those who have been entrusted by the service to assume the position. He is also a highly committed, integrity, disciplined and prudent and able to serve as a Role Model to all levels of Other Rank members. He is active in sports. He also represented the units and headquarters.
Warrant Officer SWF (GI) Abu Bakar bin Amat is married to Mrs Salmiah binti Haji Saleh and was blessed with 1 son and 3 daughter’s. He now holds the position of Command Warrant Officer for the Western Fleet.
