There will be series of conferences that will be held throughout LIMA ’17. As for the Maritime Segment, the Chief of Navy’s Roundtable Talk (CNRT) will be held on 22nd March 2017, with “Naval Capabilities Based Acquisition Reform” selected as the theme and will be delivered by 4 prominent speakers. Besides that, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) will be also organizing a forum on 23rd March 2017 with the theme “Maritime Search and Rescue and Regional Challenges”.
2. THE MARITIME SEGMENT GRACING CEREMONY AND VIP DEMONSTRATION
The function will be held on the 21st March 2017 in Resorts World and will be officiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The highlight of the event will be the hostage rescue demonstration that will be conducted by “Combined Special Forces” from various agencies in Malaysia, together with the “live demonstration” of latest technologies by the participating exhibitors.
3. LIMA’ 17 FLEET REVIEW
The LIMA ’17 Fleet Review will be held on 23rd March 2017. The Naval Fleet Review is a tradition that has been followed by navies around the world for years, in which every participating ship and its men will display its magnificently dressed and decorated ship with full pride and honor during the review.The LIMA ’17 Fleet Review will definitely become one of the best Fleet Review’s in the LIMA history with the participation of large number of naval warships from various navies and also the involvement of the international navy’s air assets for the “Combined Fly Past” during the review.
4. SHIP’S DISPLAY AND ONBOARD RECEPTION
Selected ships will be opened to visitors for the entire duration of LIMA ’17. Besides that, series of onboard reception and also cocktails will be held. Participation for the ship display and reception is opened for both Royal Malaysian Navy and also interested international navy ships.
5. RECEPTION & INTERACTION ACTIVITIES
There will be series of reception and interaction activities that will be organized in the Maritime Segment during LIMA ’17. The main aim of these activities is to enhance and strengthen the strong bonding that readily exists among participating navies and also other maritime players. The key highlight for the interaction activities will be the International Maritime Cultural and Food Festival Night which will be held on 23rd March 2017. According to its track record, this event is always regarded as a “must-to-attend” program by all sailors and delegations attending LIMA, and serves as the most essential platform in enhancing interoperability and also relationship between the navies. During this event, all participating nations will be share their local foods and delicacies to the participants in their respective stall, and also portray their cultural values and heritage through participation in the cultural performances.
6. LIMA SEA EXERCISE (LSX)
The LIMA ’17 will be concluded with the LSX, which is a simple naval exercise which is aimed to create a better interoperability by various navies. The exercise will be divided into 2 phases. The Harbor Phase will be conducted on 22 and 24th March 2017 and will serve as the avenue to facilitate the initial requirements and also coordination for the exercise. This will be followed by the Sea Phase which will be conducted at the Northern Malacca Straits Exercise Area on 26th March 2017.
