REAFFIRMING COMMITMENTS TOWARDS STEADFAST ASEAN NAVIES’ COOPERATION

PENANG, 17 June - The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) proudly hosted the 19th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) Staff Meeting from 16 to 18 June.

The meeting was chaired by Assistant Chief of Staff Operations and Training, RMN Headquarters, Rear Admiral Dato’ Pahlawan Mohd Fadzli Kamal bin Mohd Mohaldin and serves as the avenue for all ASEAN Navies to discuss and finalise the planning, initiatives and action items before the execution of the 19th ANCM Plenary Meeting in August 2025.

The meeting has achieved its objective, with all ASEAN Navy representatives acknowledging the need for the ASEAN Navies to remain united in addressing the evolving nature of current and future maritime security challenges. In addition, the forum also recognised the need for ASEAN Navies to adapt innovations and technologies to enhance operational effectiveness in the future. The consensus achieved runs parallel to the theme for the 19th ANCM, which is “Advancing the ASEAN Navies’ Unity – Synergising Innovation and Technology in Strengthening ASEAN Maritime Security”.

The RMN is honoured to lead this initiative and remains committed to promoting regional trust, interoperability, and collective maritime readiness among the ASEAN Navies’, which aligns with ASEAN's shared vision of a secure, stable, and resilient maritime domain.
