VAdm. Dato’ Baharudin bin Wan Md Nor joined the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) as a Cadet Officer in July 1989. In his early days, he had served on various sea going and appointments ashore. His time at sea include stints as Navigator, Executive Officer and as Warfare Officer aboard Frigate. He is also among the pioneering group of RMN submariner, having started his initial training with Royal Australian Navy in 1995. When RMN decided to set up a Submarine Force in 2005; he was selected, qualified and subsequently appointed as Commanding Officer of RMN Scorpene Class submarine after taking it from built in France. Ashore he had served in various capacity at training establishment, Plans and Strategy, Operations, and in Human Resources. His senior leadership posts includes as Commander RMN Submarine Force, Chief Transformation Officer of the Navy where he was responsible for the formulation, planning, execution and overseeing transformation programme for the Royal Malaysian Navy, Naval Head of Human Resources, J7 in the Malaysian Armed Forces Joint Force HQ, Inspector General of the Navy and as Commander Naval Region 1 prior to taking up his current position in May 25.

VAdm. Dato’ Baharudin had completed various professional and leadership development courses throughout his career. Apart from maritime warfare and submarine specialization courses, he was a graduate of United States Naval War College, Rhode Island as well as the recipient of Captain Walter B. Woodson award in 2004. He was valedictorian of Malaysia’s National Resilience College Class 2021 and a fellow at National Defence University of Malaysia. He attended Senior Leadership Program at Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, USA in 2024. VAdm. Dato’ Baharudin holds a Master Degree in National Security Administration. In 2018 he co-authored a book titled “Strategy Document for Royal Malaysian Navy 15to5 Transformation Program”. He specialized in Organizational Transformation and had been invited to speaks at various forums.

Throughout his career, he has been honoured with several awards, medals and decorations in recognition of his service. These includes Tokoh ANSARA 2013, numerous Excellence Service Awards, Darjah Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Darjah Pahlawan Angkatan Tentera, Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri and Panglima Setia Angkatan Tentera. In 2012, VAdm. Dato’ Baharudin was honored with Chevalier de I’Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur, a French order of merit for military and civil deeds. VAdm. Dato’ Baharudin is a long-time member of Malaysian Nature Society, a non-profit organization that promotes protection and conservation of Malaysia’s natural heritage. He is happily married to Datin Shafiqah Ismail.

Vice Admiral Dato’ Khir Junaidi was born in Kemaman, Terengganu. He joined the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in 1985 and began his military journey with basic training at the Education and Training Center in Lumut, Perak. Specializing in navigation, he has held numerous key appointments throughout his distinguished career.

His leadership roles include Commanding Officer of KD LAKSAMANA MUHAMMAD AMIN and serving as the Defence Attaché of Malaysia in Paris, France. Vice Admiral Dato’ Khir Junaidi has also held the position of Director of the Naval Reserve Force at the RMN Headquarters, Deputy Western Fleet Commander at the Western Command Fleet Headquarters and Lumut Naval Base Commander. Additionally, Vice Admiral DATO’ KHIR JUNAIDI served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Strategy at the RMN Headquarters, Ministry of Defense and as Commander Naval Region Area 2 before appointed as Eastern Fleet Commander.

An alumni of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) at ADFA, Australia, Vice Admiral Dato’ Khir Junaidi earned his Master’s Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from UNSW in Canberra in 2006. He also holds a Diploma in Strategic and Defence Studies from the University of Malaya, Malaysia.

Vice Admiral Dato’ Khir JunaidiI is married to Datin Norhaliza Binti Shaari, and together they are blessed with two sons and four daughters. In his leisure time, Vice Admiral Dato’ Khir Junaidi enjoys golfing and cycling.

First Admiral Ahmad Nazree bin Abu Hassan was born on 19 March 1970 in Kuching, Sarawak. He joined the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in 1988 and has since held numerous key appointments within the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and RMN. Among them are Navigation Officer of KD SRI NEGERI SEMBILAN, Diving Officer of KD JERAI, PASKAL Assault Team Leader, Liaison Officer of the MAF for the Humanitarian Aid Mission during the Aceh Tsunami (2005), Executive Officer of KD PANGLIMA HITAM, Executive Officer of KD MAHAWANGSA, Commanding Officer of KD LAKSAMANA TUN ABDUL JAMIL cum Senior Officer of the 24th Corvette Squadron, Commanding Officer of KD MALAYA, Commanding Officer of KD SRI SEMPORNA, Director of Special Operations at the Joint Forces Headquarters (MAB), and Director General of the Defence Special Forces Operations Division (BOPKP). He was also among the pioneer Malaysian Armed Forces military observers for the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2001.

He has attended numerous professional and military courses throughout his career including Close Quarter Battle and Freefall at PULPAK, Advanced Urban CQB at SASR Swanborne Perth, Australia, International Advanced Clearance Diver Course at HMAS Penguin Australia, Amphibious Staff Planning and NGSLO courses in Coronado, United States, SESKOAL in Indonesia (recipient of the Dharma Wiratama Widya Wacana Award for Best Thesis) and Army Command Management Course at Senior Officers Institute (SOI), Port Dickson.

He is married to Lt Cdr Norazah binti Abdullah RMN (Retired) and blessed with three children. He maintains a healthy lifestyle and enjoys adventurous and physically challenging activities.

Throughout his service, he has held several appointments ashore and at sea as Joint Services such as Anti-Air Warfare Officer of KD LEKIU and KD JEBAT, Chief Warfare Officer of KD SELAGOR, Gunnery Training Officer in KD PELANDOK and as Staff Officer 1 of Internal Relations at RMN HQ, Commanding Officer of KD SRI KOTA KINABALU. His last appointment at sea was as the Commanding Officer of KD PERAK.

Captain Ahmad Sani has attended various professional and military courses throughout his career. These include Naval Head of Operation Department in Toulon, France in 2005/2006, Humanitarian Operations Seminar in Australia on 2017, Sulu Area Initiative Working Group in Philippines on 2018 as well as various other career and professional courses. He is graduate of the National University of Malaysia (UKM) where he earned his Master of Social Science (Strategic Studies).

Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan bin Md Said was born in Tanjung Kling, Melaka on 27 July 1973. He began his service in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) on 1 July 1991.

He was commissioned as an RMN Officer with the rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant on 3 July 1993 in the Executive Branch. He was later absorbed into the RMN Hydrographic Service after successfully completing the Category B Hydrographic Course at the Royal Australian Navy Hydrographic School, HMAS Penguin, New South Wales, Australia, in April 1996. Through his excellent performance, he steadily rose through the RMN leadership hierarchy and currently serves as the Director General of Hydrography at the National Hydrographic Centre (NHC), a position he has held since 27 October 2025, with the rank of Rear Admiral. 

Over his 33 years of service in the Royal Malaysian Navy, Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan has built a distinguished and accomplished career. He has held several key positions not only within the RMN but also in ministries and external agencies. Among his notable appointments are Deputy Director General of Hydrography, National Hydrographic Centre (NHC), Senior Director, Planning and Development Division, Navy Headquarters, Deputy Commander, Eastern Fleet Command Headquarters, Commanding Officer, KD PERANTAU, Staff Officer 1 (Maritime Law), Operations and Planning Division, Navy Headquarters and Special Officer to the Director General of Hydrography. In addition to his various key naval appointments, he has also served on secondment to external organisations, including as Assistant Chief of Staff (Operations [J3]) at the National Task Force Headquarters, and Principal Assistant Secretary in the Maritime Security and Sovereignty Division, National Security Council, Prime Minister’s Department.

In the field of hydrography, Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan’s expertise has gained international recognition. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Sub-Committee on Undersea Feature Names (SCUFN) under the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO). His credibility and professional capability were further acknowledged when he was elected as Vice-Chair of the committee for the 2024– 2028 term.

At the national level, Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan is actively involved in numerous inter-agency committees and working groups, particularly those concerning Malaysia’s maritime boundary delimitation with neighbouring countries. He is recognised as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the technical and legal aspects of maritime boundary determination. In recognition of his expertise, he was appointed as Head of the Special Team responsible for preparing Malaysia’s continental shelf submission beyond 200 nautical miles to the United Nations (UN) in New York in 2019.

Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan also actively collaborates with local universities in academic and research activities, particularly with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). He has participated in several research projects under the Higher Education Research Grants, focusing on the fields of hydrography, coastal engineering, and marine sciences. His notable projects include coastal erosion studies at Pantai Klebang Beach and Pantai Puteri, marine habitat mapping at Pulau Kuraman, seafloor ecosystem studies at Pulau Tioman and marine habitat mapping initiatives across selected coastal zones. With his extensive knowledge and experience, he has presented numerous papers at both domestic and international forums.

Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Hydrographic Science from UTM. He also possesses two Master’s degrees - Master of Science (Hydrography) from UTM, and Master of Maritime Studies from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. He was awarded the Best Postgraduate

Student Award (Social Science Category) during the 62nd UTM Convocation Ceremony in 2019. He also received the Best Student Award at the Summer Academic on the Continental Shelf course at the University of the Faroe Islands in 2014. Furthermore, during his attendance at the Australian Command and Staff College in Weston Creek, Canberra (2008), he received a Letter of Commendation for his outstanding performance.

Rear Admiral Dr. Najhan has been happily married for 28 years to Mrs Norhiyati binti Hamid, a town planner-turned-teacher serving at SMK Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam. The couple is blessed with three children: Nureen Najeeha (27), Najmi Najmudeen (25), and Nurdini Nadeera (22).

In his personal interests, he is a strong sports enthusiast and was an athlete in his younger years, representing the RMN in hockey and shooting. He continues to maintain an active lifestyle, with a keen interest in golf and shooting sports.

RAdm Mohd Dato’ Pahlawan Fadzli Kamal was born in the Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar, Perak on 4 March 1967.  He completed his secondary education at Royal Military College, Sungai Besi in 1984 before joining the Royal Malaysian Navy on 1 September 1985.

Upon being commissioned in 1987, his first appointment was as the Correspondence Officer on board KD HANDALAN.  He spent most of his career serving the RMN Fleet on board KD RAHMAT, KD MUSYTARI, KD LAKSAMANA TAN PUSMAH, KD JEBAT and twice on board KD KASTURI and KD LAKSAMANA MUHAMMAD AMIN. His last tour of duty with the RMN Fleet was as the Commanding Officer of KD LEKIU while discharging the duty as Senior Officer Afloat of the RMN Armada.  Among other appointments held were as Gunnery Officer, Anti Air Warfare Officer, Principal Warfare Officer and the Executive Officer of the Strike Flotilla’s ships. Prior to his present appointment, he had held the job as the Director General Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Malaysian Armed Forces, Inspector General at the RMN HQ, the Commandant of the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College, Chief of Staff at RMN Readiness HQ, Chief of Staff at Naval Region 2 HQ and Commanding Officer of RMN Leadership Centre. He was also the former Head of R&D cum Executive Officer at RMN Maritime Tactical Centre, PUSTAKMAR  and served various appointments ashore at the Naval Education and Training Centre, KD PELANDOK. 

RAdm Dato’ Pahlawan Fadzli attended various courses locally and abroad such as Air Defence Course, Junior Officer Command Course, Training Methodology, Quality Control as well as Internal/Lead Auditor courses. He also had the opportunity to undergo several courses in the United States, the Principal Warfare Officer Specialisation Course at HMS DRYAD, United Kingdom and the first crew training for the Laksamana Class Corvette in Italy. He graduated from Australian Command and Staff College in 2003 and holds a Master of Management in Defence Studies from University of Canberra and a Graduate Certificate in Maritime Studies from University of Wollongong.  He acquired his second Master degree in Social Science (Defence Studies) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) while attending the MAF Defence College in 2010.  Later, he obtained the Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School of the National Defence University, Washington DC.  He had the opportunity being involved as participant and speaker at numerous international seminars and conferences.

RAdm Dato’ Pahlawan Fadzli used to be a keen sportsman, having represented the MAF and RMN in the game of hockey, rugby and basketball during his younger days. He had once holds the job as the Deputy Treasurer of the Malaysian National Cycling Federation, the Secretary of MAF and RMN Cycling Association and the Chairman of RMN Basketball Association.  He enjoys gardening and outdoor activities.

 He is happily married to Ms Shamsina binti Mohamed Salleh and blessed with four boys.

Rear Admiral Dato' Ahmad Shafirudin bin Abu Bakar RMN was born on 10 February 1971 and joined the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in 1989 through the Cadet Officer Scheme. He was commissioned on 1 July 1991. Throughout his service, he was entrusted with various important positions including Navigation Officer of KD SERAMPANG, Executive Officer of KD SRI NEGERI SEMBILAN, Navigation Officer of KD PERDANA, Staff Officer at Naval Headquarters, Commanding Officer of KD LEKIR from 2012 to 2014, Commander of Naval Air Wing from 2020 to 2025, as well as Commander of Naval Region 3 in 2025.

As an experienced Operational Pilot, Rear Admiral Dato' Ahmad Shafirudin led numerous flight missions in his capacity as Flight Commander. He also served as a Helicopter Flight Instructor, playing a vital role in guiding and training young RMN pilots. His aviation career further extended to service with the Royal Malaysian Air Force and the Air Unit of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department as an Operational Pilot, thereby demonstrating extensive operational experience across national agencies.

He successfully completed the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College course in 2007 and the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College course in 2015. Academically, he holds a Master of Maritime Policy from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and a Master of Social Science (Defence Studies) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He also attended the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) at Seaford House, London, United Kingdom. In addition, he participated in various career enhancement courses in line with service requirements. He was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral on 26 May 2025 and currently holds the position of Assistant Chief of Staff for Development Planning and Strategy beginning 1 August 2025.

Rear Admiral Dato' Ahmad Shafirudin bin Abu Bakar is married to Puan Hayati binti Osman, and they are blessed with three children. In his leisure time, he enjoys family activities such as traveling, while reading and gardening are his main hobbies.

Rear Admiral Datuk Dr. Azizi bin Hj Ahmad Sarkawi was born in Selama, Perak on 17th Mei 1970. He joined the Royal Malaysian Navy and was commissioned on the 2nd Jun 1993.

At the beginning of his service, he was held various positions as Branch Administrative Officer at the first KD PELANDOK in 1995, Coordination Officer of Officer Faculty, administrative & procurement Control Officer at the Fleet Supply Depot, Logistics Officer cum Acting Executive Officer at the RMN maintenance supervision Unit Sg Nyior, Butterworth. Among the important positions at the Naval Headquarters that he held were as Staff Officer 2 Deployment and Exchange (supply), Staff Officer 2 Policy/Documentation while in the Materiel Division as Director of Materiel Development, Director of Budget Management and Senior Director of Materiel.

Subsequently, he was employed at the RMN Leadership Centre as head of the School of basic Leadership Studies, Chief of Staff for Systems Management at the Fleet Systems headquarters, Head of the Materiel and Finance Department at the Submarine Force Headquarters, Head of the Supply Division at KDSI 1, Head of the Faculty of Supply and Management at KD PELANDOK and Commanding Officer of the Fleet Supply Depot. At the level of ATM headquarters, he has held the position of Staff Officer 2 Plan A 5 CTK-A. On Jan 30, 2023, he was appointed as the Eastern Logistics Commander.

Rear Admiral Datuk Dr. Azizi has attended various courses in logistics, military, management and higher education, locally and abroad. The highest academic achievement is in PhD In Technology, Operation and Logistic Management at the Northern University of Malaysia (UUM). He has passed the Viva Voce held on 2 Jan 24 and has been granted the doctorate credential from the University Senate on 14 July 24. He is a member of Chatered Malaysia Institute of Logistics and Transport and American Society of Quality. In 2022, he was one of the Course Member for National Resilience College, PUSPAHANAS and awarded Fellow Scholar by National Defence University, Malaysia.

He is happily married to Madam Anita binti Mohamed, and blessed with five children, two sons and three daughters.

First Admiral Ismail bin Othman embarked on a fulfilling career in the Royal Malaysian Navy in 1990, achieving commissioning in the Executive Branch by 1992.

Throughout his distinguished service, he navigated diverse array of responsibilities both at sea and on shore. His tenure included pivotal roles abroad various vessels such as KD LEMBING, KD SRI MELAKA, KD RAHMAT, KD SRI INDERA SAKTI and the remarkable experience during serving in KD JEBAT in 1999 and 2006 as Electronic Warfare Officer and Executive Officer, respectively. Transitioning ashore, First Admiral Ismail contributed significantly to the establishment of the Naval Reservist Headquarters where reservists now play a vital role in augmenting the regular force, particularly in operational readiness and support functions.

First Admiral finds joy in family life, being happily married to Puan Sujaihah binti Abdul Ghafar. His recreational pursuits of choice are cycling and running.
